Greg Climer is a textile artist, fashion designer, and educator whose work bridges traditional craft and emerging technologies. Best known for his quilted portraits and textile-based animations, Climer explores themes of memory, identity, and queer desire through handwork and digital processes. His practice spans quilts, garments, engineered prints, and experimental film, often blending meticulous craft with tools such as AI and 3D design software.
Climer’s work has been exhibited internationally and is held in both private and museum collections, including the Museum of Art and Design (NY), The Museum of Craft and Design (CA), The DeYoung Museum (CA), the Leslie Lohmann Museum (NY), The Homo Faber Biennale (Italy). His professional background includes roles with fashion houses like Victoria’s Secret Runway Show and Karl Lagerfeld, as well as his own menswear label.
In addition to his artistic practice, Climer is Chair of Fashion Design at California College of the Arts in San Francisco and President of the Board of Directors at the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles. A dedicated educator and leader, he has developed innovative curricula at major art and design schools and champions the integration of craft, technology, ethics, and critical thinking in design education.
